This phrase, Yoga Citta Vritti Nirodha, written down thousands of years by a scribe (or possibly a number of scribes) named Patanjali has been my biggest ah-ha moment through my yoga studies. This phrase was likely passed down for many more hundreds of years in the oral tradition before the Aryan's brought what is now sanskrit to India. Fascinated? More here: https://www.ancient.eu/Aryan/
But back to this phrase and how it was the ah-ha moment. It translates as Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.
Asana is a TOOL to allow this to happen.
Yoga's MAIN deal is NOT Asana, it's not the poses or being flexible! Philosophy is a map that helps you arrive at....the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind....
